In this series of nine monotypes, I explore the phenomenon of “wandering,” connecting natural processes with historical experience. The wandering plant Asplenium ruta-muraria becomes a central motif, its meandering growth across leaves serving as a metaphor for perpetual movement.

The fragmented format reinforces a sense of dislocation: each print functions autonomously while also forming part of a larger whole, reflecting how people and cultures are dispersed through space and time, yet remain part of a shared history.

This work resonates with the experience of Crimean Tatars, whose centuries-long displacement demanded resilience, adaptation, and the preservation of identity. The unpredictability inherent in monotype mirrors this process, producing images that dissolve and leave traces - much like the marks left by displacement on memory.

The work was presented in the exhibition Shadow of Water, organized by the Office of the Crimea Platform in Kyiv, dedicated to the 11th anniversary of Crimea’s resistance to occupation.
