With Leap, I investigate the fleeting moment of freedom and movement, centering on the act of diving into water. The series began with my observations of my younger sister swimming in a pool in Odesa during an air raid. In her leap - light, carefree, and unbound - I recognized an affirmation of life, a gesture that resists the surrounding tension and asserts vitality.

In this second part, I turn to miniature canvases, each just 10 × 10 cm, to depict variations of underwater leaps. These small formats create an intimate, concentrated rhythm. Each painting functions as a micro-frame, inviting the viewer to lean in, to inhabit the suspended instant, and to explore the interplay of body, water, and gaze.

The works condense the wider themes of the Leap series: the encounter between dynamism and stillness, the unpredictability of water as a medium that both carries and resists, and the analogy between painting and the leap itself - spontaneous, intuitive, and bound to the moment. Here, movement becomes both a metaphor for vulnerability and a quiet celebration of resilience.
